Pepe Herrera (b. Santa Clara, Cuba, 1958) is a painter, engraver, and editor. He has resided and worked in Spain since 1988. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts Havana and has worked as a fine arts professor, he is also the co-founder of the Rene Portocarrero silkscreen atelier in Havana where he worked from 1982-1987. He co-founded a second atelier of the same name in Barcelona when he emigrated in 1988, afterwards he worked as a professor at L` Escola de Formació Professional del Gremi d` Industries Gráfiques in Barcelona. He has worked as an engraver and editor for more than 30 years, working with artists like René Portocarrero, Wifredo Lam, Robert Rauschenberg, and Luis Cruz Azaceta among many others. He has directed his own silkscreen atelier, Pepe Herrera Graphic Studio, in Madrid since 2000. He has participated in more than 80 collective and personal exhibitions, and has been the recipient of many awards and prizes.
