Enrique Giovanni Miralles Tartabull, professionally known as Tente, is a distinguished Cuban visual artist and printmaker, born in Havana on February 6, 1972. A graduate of the prestigious San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in 1995, he further developed his artistic training at such important institutions as the Taller Experimental de Gráfica de La Habana and the Brandywine Workshop in Philadelphia.

He later founded the studio-gallery Praxis Havana and established himself as one of the most accomplished figures in contemporary Cuban printmaking. His work has earned international recognition and has been presented at major events and venues, including the Havana Biennial, the Liverpool Biennial in the United Kingdom, the Curitiba Biennial in Brazil, the Asunción Biennial in Paraguay, the Armonk Art Show in New York, and, more recently, Mexico’s Alfredo Zalce National Salon.

Working with techniques such as collagraphy and drypoint, Tente has developed a symbolic universe grounded in an understanding of art as a realm of freedom, unbound by fashions or prevailing trends, yet marked by a powerful sense of identity—what the artist himself describes as “the baggage I carry.”

Currently based in Mérida, Yucatán, he continues to develop his artistic practice while also leading experimental educational initiatives for young creators, including El Laboratorio.
