Work by Alejandro Lorenzo Valdés (ALEVAL): a large face with three small figures seated on top of the head.

This artist’s work develops a symbolic and expressive figuration that explores the contradictions of the human condition, the relationships between the earthly and the divine, and the different ways in which human beings exercise power, violence or compassion.

Through hybrid characters, in which human and animal features merge, along with religious, allegorical and mythological references, ALEVAL builds scenes of a markedly narrative character, charged with drama, irony and ambiguity. His production spans painting, drawing, illustration and printmaking, and stands out for a personal iconography that combines fantastic imagination with a critical view of social and political reality.
