MoCAA Donates Three Serigraphs to Caritas in Support of Its Humanitarian Work in Miami

By Rodriguez Collection Team

The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MoCAA) announces the donation of two serigraphs and one original ink-on-paper work by Cuban artists Ivonne Ferrer, Reynerio Tamayo, and Ramón Carulla to Caritas, an organization dedicated to accompanying individuals and families facing conditions of vulnerability in South Florida. As part of an international humanitarian network, Caritas develops programs oriented toward social support, direct assistance, and the preservation of human dignity, providing essential resources to communities confronting economic and social precarity.

Caritas’ work is distinguished by its person-centered approach, promoting access to essential services, guidance, and sustained accompaniment for individuals and families navigating difficult circumstances. Its efforts are grounded in an ethic of continuous service, directed toward addressing concrete needs through initiatives that foster stability, inclusion, and communal well-being.

Within this context, MoCAA’s donation seeks to contribute symbolically to this mission, acknowledging the vital role of institutions engaged in direct human and social care. The donated serigraphs belong to the body of work of three artists whose practices have explored, from distinct perspectives, themes related to memory, cultural experience, and the complexities of contemporary life. Ivonne Ferrer, Reynerio Tamayo, and Ramón Carulla represent established trajectories within contemporary Cuban art, and their contributions reflect the continuity of an artistic practice committed to critical reflection and the human condition.

This initiative reflects MoCAA’s broader understanding of art as a form of cultural participation that exists in dialogue with the wider social sphere. Through this gesture, the museum recognizes the essential function organizations such as Caritas fulfill in sustaining the social fabric, and expresses its respect for the work they carry forward on behalf of those most in need.

The artists’ participation in this action likewise affirms an understanding of art as a practice that, beyond its aesthetic dimension, can contribute to strengthening human bonds and accompanying meaningful social processes. The donation thus stands as a gesture of recognition and support toward an institution whose work continues to exert a direct and tangible impact on the life of the community.
