MoCA Americas and the Fine Art Ceramic Center extend their deepest gratitude to the Urukum Institute of Britânia (Brazil), the distinguished Brazilian artist Gerson Fogaça, and cultural manager Malu da Cunha for making this first working meeting possible. The encounter resulted in important agreements that will serve as the foundation for future collaborative projects and international exchange.

As part of this visit, we traveled to Maragogipinho, in the state of Bahia, widely recognized as the largest center of ceramic production in Latin America and a landmark in the preservation of Brazil's pottery traditions. There, we had the privilege of meeting master ceramicist Miro and visiting his workshop, Olaria do Miro, where we witnessed a profound body of knowledge passed down from generation to generation and an artisanal practice that continues to sustain one of the region's most significant cultural expressions.

This initiative represents far more than an institutional partnership. It establishes a bridge between two geographies, two cultures, and two communities of makers. It will become a space for the exchange of knowledge, techniques, processes, and experiences, where ceramics serves as a shared language capable of strengthening dialogue, research, and contemporary artistic practice while honoring the richness of local traditions.
