The director of the School of Architecture, Habitat, Art and Design of UADY, David Reynaldo Alcocer, donated two emblematic books on the culture and visual arts of Yucatán to Leonardo Rodríguez and Ivonne Ferrer, directors of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MoCAA). The titles are "MACAY. Ateneo de Yucatán Museum of Contemporary Art. 15 Years" and "Architecture of the Haciendas of Yucatán."
With this donation, which will become part of the archives of the MoCAA library, the official visit and the lecture given by Leonardo Rodríguez and Ivonne Ferrer at the university campus came to a close. Both traveled to Mérida, invited by UADY, to open two exhibitions within the program for the 53rd anniversary of said School and the 20th anniversary of the creation of its Visual Arts department: "MoCAA Collection in Yucatán" and "Inhabited Geometries. Body, Space and Architecture in the Work of Ivonne Ferrer," which will remain on display until October 2026.
The book "MACAY. Ateneo de Yucatán Museum of Contemporary Art. 15 Years," published in 2012 by the MACAY Cultural Foundation, A. C., constitutes a historical, visual and documentary record of the first fifteen years of the museum's life. The publication, of more than 500 pages, reconstructs both the history of the building that houses MACAY and the evolution of the institution since its founding, including its exhibitions, activities and educational projects. Organized into seventeen chronological sections, it gathers information about the artists, the disciplines and the events that marked the museum's trajectory.
The book "Architecture of the Haciendas of Yucatán" is an extensive academic study dedicated to the architectural heritage of the old Yucatecan haciendas, especially to their evolution, spatial characteristics and relationship with the economic activities that shaped the territory. The work was published in 2006 by the Banamex Cultural Foundation and the Autonomous University of Yucatán. It has 491 pages and illustrations.
